Democrats Ask KPK Not To Make Noise Call Kaesang Clarification About Private Jets

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the DPR from the Democratic Faction, Benny K Harman asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) not to make unnecessary noise by scheduling a summons to PSI General Chair, Kaesang Pangarep.

The youngest son of President Joko Widodo was examined for clarification regarding the alleged gratification for using a private jet to the United States (US). Because according to him, Kaesang does not have the status as a state administrator.

"In my opinion, the KPK should not make unnecessary noise. Kaesang is not currently in the status of a state administrator or state official. He is a private person. That he is the son of the president, yes. But his status is a free person, the free person is not bound by the rules related to state administrators. He is not a state administrator, nor is he a state official. He is the leader of a political party," said Benny at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 4.

The Democrat legislator considered it legitimate for Kaesang to travel by renting a private jet. According to him, even though Kaesang is the youngest child of President Joko Widodo but does not change his right to ride a private jet.

"Therefore, if he wants to rent a private jet, where is it, it is his right. It has nothing to do with his family, unless there are indications of money laundering or something," said Benny.

Benny even asked the KPK not to waste time dealing with personal problems. "There is no need for the KPK to waste unnecessary time," said Benny.

Benny also suspected that the KPK only wanted to divert the problem. But when asked what problems were diverted, the democracy politician only advised the KPK to process cases where there were already suspects. Like the case that dragged the name of former KPK chairman Firli Bahuri.

"Yes, I don't know. For what you don't need, in front of you, solve cases that have become TSK but are not processed. The KPK is better off solving Firli's case, right?" said Benny.
