JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said Indonesia appreciates the attitude of the Vatican which continues to voice peace in Palestine and supports Two State Solution, when it receives Pope Francis' visit to the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday.
Starting his remarks, President Jokowi thanked Pope Francis for his willingness to visit Indonesia.
"This visit has a very strong message about the important meaning of celebrating differences," said President Jokowi, quoted from the live broadcast of the Presidential Secretariat YouTube Channel, Wednesday, September 4.
President Jokowi further said that for Indonesia the difference is a gift, tolerance for fertilizer is a fertilizer for unity and peace as a nation.
He said, Indonesia is very lucky to have a single Pancasila and Bhinneka so that it can live in harmony and side by side
"This spirit of peace and tolerance wants Indonesia and the Vatican to spread, especially in the midst of an increasingly volatile world," said President Jokowi.
Highlighting the world's ongoing conflicts and wars, President Jokowi appreciates the Vatican's stance on the Palestinian conflict that has killed more than 40 thousand people.
"Indonesia appreciates, really appreciates the silence that continues to voice, calls for peace in the Palestinians and supports Two State Solution because the war will not benefit anyone, war will only bring suffering and misery to the small community," said President Jokowi.
"Therefore, let us celebrate the differences we have, let us accept each other and strengthen tolerance to create peace, to create a better world for all mankind," said President Jokowi.
