JAKARTA - North Korea said on Monday, the UN Security Council demonstrated a double standard. This is linked to criticism of the UN Security Council Sanctions Committee criticizing the country's recent missile tests as a violation of UN resolutions.

Last week, North Korea was found to have tested a new type of short-range ballistic missile launch. Several days earlier, North Korea also tested a missile.

This led the United States to request a meeting of the UN Security Council Sanctions Committee. The aim is to discuss violations of sanctions related to the test conducted by Pyongyang

Director-General of International Organizations, North Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jo Chol Su said at a committee meeting on Friday, the United States called for imposing additional sanctions and tightening the implementation of existing measures, condemning the test firing of the missile as a violation of UN resolutions.

Jo said the meeting was designed to negate the North Korean state's right to defend itself, while warning North Korea would devise "countermeasures".

"This is a denial of a sovereign state and a double standard which is clearly an issue of the UN Security Council, on the basis of UN resolutions, a direct product of the hostile policies of the United States," Jo said in a statement carried by the official KCNA news agency.

"It doesn't make sense, our self-defense action which we choose and is correct, has come under fire when many other countries around the world fire all kinds of projectiles for the purpose of increasing their military strength," he explained.

The statement came after North Korea called the Administration of US President Joe Biden, taking the wrong first step and expressing deep hostility, by criticizing the missile defense test, which was delivered last Saturday.
