The Public Turns Out To Be The Most Complaints To The DPR About The Law

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, revealed that the DPR received thousands of complaints from the public. He thanked the people who continued to support the work of the DPR.

The performance report for one year of the DPR session was submitted by Puan at the plenary meeting specifically for the 79th Anniversary of the DPR RI at Nusantara II Building, Jakarta, Thursday, August 29. The report has the theme 'DPR Strengthens Unity and Mutual Cooperation Towards Prosperous Indonesia'.

Puan said that the DPR accepted the aspirations of the people which were conveyed in writing, both physically and online through the DPR RI website.

"From August 16, 2023 to July 31, 2024, the Indonesian House of Representatives has received the aspirations and complaints of the public as many as 195 physical letters and 4,016 letters through the website," said Puan.

There are three areas of problems that dominate the aspirations and complaints of the public where the details are 1,282 letters of complaint related to legal problems, 281 related to land and agrarian reform as much as 108 related to education.

"These aspirations have been forwarded to the relevant Council Apparatus (AKD) to be followed up with their partners," explained Bung Karno's grandson.

Puan also said that the DPR was increasingly required to act quickly in responding to people's affairs. The DPR is also required to always be close and sided with the people, and the DPR is expected to have a sharp substance.

"The DPR RI is also expected to have the honor of its position, as well as behavior that pays attention to the sense of propriety and a sense of social justice," said Puan.

The results of the DPR's performance that has been conveyed by Puan will be compiled in detail in the DPR RI performance report book at the 2023-2024 Session Year. Puan said this performance was the result of the work of all members of the DPR RI and AKD DPR RI.

"All the hard work is only the people who will judge whether the DPR RI has carried it out seriously with the power that has been given by the people?" he said.

Furthermore, Puan ensured that the DPR was always open to criticism and auto-criticism so that it could improve its performance as a representative of the people who carried out the mandate of the people.

The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture also invited all honorable council members to work together to build an institutional DPR RI with integrity. In addition, according to Puan, so that the DPR has honor in accordance with its position, and unites the people in the spirit of mutual cooperation to build Indonesia.

"Along with the commemoration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia and the 76th Anniversary of the DPR RI, the DPR RI will continue to improve the implementation of people's sovereignty: the power of the DPR RI comes from the people, so it is the obligation of the DPR RI to use its power for the interests and welfare of the people," he explained.

"On behalf of the leadership of the DPR RI and all members of the DPR RI, we express our gratitude to all Indonesian people who have given their trust and mandate to carry out the sovereignty of the people," said Puan.

The DPR's Special Plenary Meeting of the DPR's Anniversary was attended by former DPR leaders including DPR Chairperson for the 2004-2009 period Agung Laksono, DPR Speaker for the 2009-2014 Period Marzuki Alie, Deputy Speaker of the DPR for the 2009-2014 Period Priyo Budi Santoso, and Deputy Speaker of the DPR for the 2014-2019 Period Agus Hermanto.

Also present were the Chairman of the DPD RI AA Lanyalla Mahmud Mattalitti, several leaders of state institutions namely Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (MA) Muhammad Syarifuddin and Chairman of the Judicial Commission (KY) Prof. Amzulian Rifai, as well as representatives of the Government, namely Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto and Secretary General of the DPR Indra Iskandar.

The commemoration of the 79th Anniversary of the DPR is also equipped with a procession of cutting the cone by the Chairman of the DPR RI, Puan Maharani. Symbolically, Puan handed over the first cone pieces to the Chairman of the DPR for the 2004-2009 period, Agung Laksono.
