JAKARTA - The Labor Party agreed to miss the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada if Anies Baswedan did not run as a candidate for governor (readgub).

"We agree, unanimously agree that the Labor Party will miss the DKI Jakarta Pilkada to fight for Anies Baswedan and show our consistency commitment to the people of Jakarta," said Chairman of the Pilkada Team of the Labor Party Said Salahudin in Menteng, Central Jakarta, Thursday, August 29, confiscated by Antara.

Said said that from the beginning after the Constitutional Court's decision was read out and the trial was still ongoing, his party immediately established communication with Anies Baswedan.

The communication was built because the Labor Party felt that there was unhealthy politics so that Anies would not run for the 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilkada.

Since the first day of registration for a candidate for governor and future deputy governor candidate (readgub-bacawagub), Said said that his party is still communicating with other parties to strive so that Anies Baswedan can still be promoted by meeting the requirements of political parties.

Until now, continued Said, the Labor Party is still consistently pushing and fighting for Anies Baswedan to run in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada even though the opportunity is small.

This is proof of the Labor Party's commitment to the people of Jakarta and insists that it will not form a coalition with any party to carry other candidate pairs participating in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada to the winning process.

On the other hand, the Labor Party also realizes that if until the end of Anies Baswedan's registration, he has not been able to advance to the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada, then there is no other solution, the Labor Party will continue to respect the constitution in the applicable law.

"If other parties may think that if we don't participate in the Pilkada, it will be difficult for us. The Labor Party wants to show the elected governor to increase the wages of workers, it doesn't matter to us. He doesn't want to hear the voices of our people demonstration, it's very difficult," said Said.

Previously, the Labor Party opened up opportunities to form a new coalition to support Anies Baswedan as a candidate for governor in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada.

According to the Labor Party, political parties that have registered as candidates for regional heads are still allowed to register again as long as they are still within the time limit for the registration period.

If there is double support, he continued, the KPU will carry out a clarification process for related political parties.

On the other hand, Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Technical Division, Idham Holik, emphasized that political parties (political parties) or coalitions of political parties can only provide support to one prospective candidate pair and cannot be withdrawn after registering.

"Based on Article 40 paragraph 4 of Law number 10 of 2016, political parties or coalitions of political parties can only propose one candidate pair," said Idham in Sorong, Southwest Papua, Thursday, August 29.

According to Idham, the regulation is also emphasized by KPU regulation number 8 of 2024 which states that political parties participating in elections or combinations that have registered pairs with provincial or city KPUs cannot withdraw afterward.
