As A Result Of Suicide Bombing, Palm Sunday Mass At The Makassar Cathedral Church Was Canceled

JAKARTA - The Makassar Archdiocese Curia (KAM) gave an official statement after the suicide bombing that occurred at the gate of the Makassar Cathedral Church on Sunday, March 28.

The diocese asked all people to remain calm and bring this incident in prayer. "Let us continue this incident in our prayers," said the representative from KAM.

The priests, bishops who are in the cathedral are all fine. The church completely left the case to the authorities.

"The entire ummah should remain calm and continue to be vigilant and let this case be fully entrusted to the security forces to be handled in accordance with applicable regulations,"

"Especially for the Makassar Cathedral parish, the Palm Sunday Mass from noon to night was canceled," he said.

It is known that the explosion occurred at around 10:28 a.m. local time. The National Police deployed Densus 88 Anti-terror and other units to handle the incident of the alleged suicide bombing at the Cathedral Church in Makassar.

There is one person suspected of being the bomber who died. Meanwhile, of the congregation, there were 9 injured who were treated in the hospital. They consisted of 5 church officers and 4 people.
