So North Sumatra Cawagub Accompanied Edy, Hasan Basri Sagala Dismissed From The Minister Of Religion's Experts

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion announced that Hasan Basri Sagala had been dismissed from his position as an Expert Minister of Religion (Menag), following his election as a candidate for Deputy Governor of North Sumatra to accompany Edy Rachmayadi.

"Hasan Sagala has run for deputy governor of North Sumatra without permission from the Minister of Religion as direct supervisor, so that according to the rules there is no choice but to give strict sanctions dismissed from his position," said Ministry of Religion spokesman Anna Hasbie as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 27.

Anna explained that the Decree (SK) for the dismissal of Hasan Sagala had been signed by Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas on August 26, 2024.

In the dictum of the decree, it is stated that in the context of administrative order it is deemed necessary to dismiss Hasan Basri Sagala as an Expert Minister of Religion for Administration and Good Government as well as Inter-Religious Institutional Relations.

"Gus Men (Menag's nickname) has signed the Dismissal Decree. So starting Monday (26/8) Hasan Sagala is no longer an Expert Minister of Religion and is not allowed to use any attributes related to the Ministry of Religion," said Anna.

In addition to serving as an Expert Minister of Religion, Hasan Basri Sagala's activities were also recorded in the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) sphere. However, because he participated in the North Sumatra Governor Election (Pilgub) contestation, he is known to have withdrawn from NU.

Previously, the General Chairperson of the Central Youth Movement (GP) Ansor Addin Jauharudin appointed Muhammad Syafiq Syauqi as the new Head of the Barisan Ansor Multipurpose National Coordination Unit (Satkornas Banser) replacing Hasan Basri Sagala for the period 2024-2029.
