Uncle Birin Awarded By PWI Award, Regional Head Cares For Sports

BANJARBARU - Governor of South Kalimantan, H. Sahbirin Noor, known as Uncle Birin, received an award from the Central Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) as Head of the Sports Care Area. This award was handed over at the opening ceremony of the 14th National Journalists Sports Week (Porwanas) at Gelora Uncle Birin, Banjarbaru.

The award was given directly by the General Chairperson of the Central PWI, Hendry Ch Bangun, as a form of appreciation for Uncle Birin's dedication in supporting various sports activities in South Kalimantan, including Porwanas.

In his opening speech, Uncle Birin thanked the Central PWI for the trust given to South Kalimantan as the host of the 14th Porwanas. "I thank you for the appreciation from the Central PWI. The 14th Porwanas is very encouraging in the spirit of sports in South Kalimantan," said Uncle Birin.

Uncle Birin emphasized that Porwanas is not only a sporting event, but also a means to strengthen friendship between journalists throughout the COUNTRY, in line with the nation's ideals in strengthening unity and a sense of brotherhood.

Uncle Birin also appreciated the hard work of the 14th Porwanas committee for the success of this national event. "I appreciate the Central PWI and all the regional committee members. Hopefully this event will run smoothly until the closing later," he added.

The General Chairperson of the Central PWI, Hendry Ch Bangun, also expressed his appreciation to Governor Sahbirin Noor who is known to really support the development of the sports world in South Kalimantan. "Thank you and the highest appreciation to Uncle Birin for supporting the 14th Porwanas. He is a leader who cares about sports," said Hendry.

Head of the South Kalimantan Provincial Youth and Sports Office, Hermansyah, also stated that this award is very worthy of being given to Uncle Birin. "Mr. Governor of Uncle Birin very often encourages the development of the world of sports in Banua. This award is very appropriate," said Hermansyah.

The 14th Porwanas was attended by 3,500 participants, including 1,350 athletes from 36 provinces. This event competed in 14 sports, such as Athletics, Badminton, Billias, Catur, E-sport, Futsal, Tennis Field, and others.

The opening ceremony of Porwanas XIV was also attended by the Head of the South Kalimantan PKK Mobilization Team, Hj Raudatul Jannah; Chairman of the South Kalimantan PWI, Zainal Helmie; Deputy General Chairperson of the Central KONI, Tursandi; and the KOI Executive Committee, Hifni Hasan.
