25 Health Workers From The TNI Start Operating To Check The Health Of Gaza Refugees In El Arish Egypt

JAKARTA - A total of 25 TNI health workers consisting of specialist doctors, general practitioners, midwives, and nurses, began working to check the condition of a number of Gaza refugees being treated on a floating hospital / hospital ship in El Arish, Egypt. Head of the Public Relations Bureau of the Secretariat General of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense Brigadier General Edwin Adrian Sumantha explained that the patient's examination was part of a follow-up orientation activity attended by TNI health workers since last Sunday, August 11. “ Oriented activities in the form of reviews of El Arish floating hospital facilities such as pharmacy rooms, treatment rooms, radiology equipment rooms (X-Ray), medical rehabilitation facilities, and other facilities. TNI health workers also began to check a number of patients who were undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at the floating hospital,” said Brigadier General Edwin when contacted in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, August 13. The Indonesian government has gradually sent a total of 40 TNI health workers to floating hospitals in El Arish, Egypt, and to field hospitals in Rafah, Gaza. The two hospitals are currently managed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The first group of health workers sent consisted of 25 soldiers. They arrived at El Arish, Saturday, August 11, then attended a briefing and orientation session on Sunday. The first group of TNI health workers was led by Colonel Ckm dr. Adry Pasmawi, who works at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital, Jakarta. Of the 25 people, 15 of them are planned to be sent to a field hospital in Rafah, Gaza, when there is a guarantee of safety for Indonesian health workers in the area. If 15 TNI health workers make it to Rafah, the Indonesian government, which is coordinated by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the TNI Headquarters, further dispatched the second wave consisting of 15 TNI health workers to El Arish. Later, the TNI health workers who work in Rafah will be rotated to a maximum every month with those on duty in El Arish, Egypt.

El Arish in Sinai, Egypt, is one of the points where aid from various countries in the world gathers for Palestinians victims of Israeli military massacres in Gaza. The distance between El Arish and Rafah — the area in Gaza, which is directly adjacent to Sinai, Egypt, reaches more than 40 kilometers. The floating hospital in El Arish, Egypt, has been operating since February 2024, and has so far treated more than 3,700 refugees from Gaza.
