Iranian President: US-West Double Standards Make Zionists More Aggressive in Crimes in Gaza

JAKARTA - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Sunday, "the double standards adopted by the United States and some Western countries have made the Zionist regime more aggressive, threatening world peace and security."

President Pezeshkian said this during a phone call with European Council President Charles Michel on Sunday.

"The application of double standards by the United States and some Western countries has made the Zionist regime more aggressive in carrying out murders and heinous crimes in Gaza and in countries in the region and poses a threat to the peace and security of the region and the world even more than before," the Iranian President said, as reported by Mehr on August 12.

Responding to the desire of the European Council President to resume negotiations on the 2015 Nuclear Agreement, President Pezeshkian considered the existence of trust and guarantees of mutual benefits as the basis of the agreement.

"If both sides fulfill all their obligations and trust is established, not only the restoration of the nuclear agreement, but also other issues in bilateral relations will be discussed," President Pezeshkian explained.

Stressing the need to stabilize the multipolar order in the world, the Iranian President further stressed that the policies and actions of the United States in putting pressure on the Iranian countries, trying to seize all rights and interests, are US attempts to prevent the stabilization of the new world order, are obstacles to achieving stability and peace in the world."

Meanwhile, the President of the European Council voiced hope for the start of effective engagement between Iran and the European Union, based on securing mutual benefits and removing obstacles to broader interaction between them.

On the same occasion, Charles Michel also emphasized the willingness of European countries to increase the level of relations with Iran.
