Pekanbaru Police Examine Seven Witnesses In Case Of Alleged Persecution At Early Step Daycare

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pekanbaru City Police, Riau Province, has examined seven witnesses related to the alleged abuse at Early Step Daycare (ESD) and plans to increase the number of witnesses. The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pekanbaru Police, Kompol Bery Juana Putra, revealed that among the witnesses examined there was a psychiatrist as an expert and also a representative from the office regarding licensing.

"Until now, we have examined seven witnesses, including psychiatrists and officials related to licensing. The victim has also undergone an examination at the Pekanbaru Police, accompanied by his parents," said Police Commissioner Bery Juana Putra in Pekanbaru on Saturday, August 10.

The police will also examine three other Early Step Daycare employees who are currently out of town. "We have confirmed three employee witnesses outside the city and they are ready to undergo further investigations," he added.

The victim's mother, AS, hopes that this legal process can be completed soon and the perpetrator gets the appropriate punishment. He also wants the Daycare to be closed immediately. "We have collaborated with legal counsel to oversee this case. For more details, I leave it to my legal adviser who will hold a press conference," said the US.

This alleged abuse case went viral on social media after a video showing a child sitting with both legs taped by a nanny in child care was uploaded by the Instagram account @phy_losophy. The video also lists a narrative stating that the child is not given food and drink to avoid defecation (BAB), so caregivers don't have to bother taking care of it.

The police continue to carry out an in-depth investigation to ensure the clarity of this case and provide legal certainty for victims and ensure appropriate action against the perpetrators.
