Jakarta's famous lawyer Otto Cornelis Kaligis or OC Kaligis joined the ranks of advocates and legal consultants at the Central Indonesian Journalists Association of Aid and Law Enforcement Consultants (LKBPH PWI).

On this occasion, the OC Kaligis who came directly to the Central PWI Office was also appointed as chairman of the advisory board, while Ronny Sompie accompanied him as deputy chairman of the advisory board.

The General Chairperson of the Central PWI, Hendry Ch Bangun who was present at this event added that the PWI LKBPH was an institution formed in accordance with the mandate of the Bandung Congress to help journalists when facing legal problems.

"There are risks when journalists carry out their duties, and LKBPH is ready to help journalists face these risks," explained Hendry.

Hendry gave an example of a journalist violence case that occurred in North Sumatra and emphasized that LKBPH was here to provide advocacy and legal assistance. "Those are the things that make LKBPH present," he added.

OC Kaligis who was appointed as Chairman of the LKBPH Advisory Council strongly supports the presence of LKBPH. "Lawyers and journalists are professions that must support each other. How do we work if there is no news from journalists," said Kaligis. "At LKBPH, I am ready to help," he added.
