School Time feature to limit access to Google applications/DOC

JAKARTA In May, Google launched the School Time feature into the Ace LTE Fitbit smartwatch to remove interference during children's studies. Now, the feature will be extended to more devices. Google announced School Time will roll out to a number of Android phones, tablets, and smartwatches starting next year. This feature will also be available on some Samsung Galaxy Watch to limit notifications without obstructing communication. As School Time mode is enabled, the device brought to school will enter a dedicated home screen with a limited function. Devices that use this mode can access various apps permitted by parents. "Parents can schedule and select which applications are allowed during school time on Family Link, our parents' control app. Parents will also have the option to allow calls or text from certain contacts," Google said. Although the goal is to reduce disruption as long as the child is in class, this feature can also be activated when the child is out of class. School Time can be used when parents want their children to focus on assignments or rest on their cellphones.
