JAKARTA - The highest level management of the Southeast Asian Meta Platforms Inc (Meta) team will visit Malaysia next week.

Their arrival was to explain further regarding the condolences of Malaysian Prime Minister (PM) Anwar Ibrahim for the death of Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh, removed Instagram (IG) and Facebook (FB).

"I was told that the Meta delegation will come to Kuala Lumpur next week to explain this issue, so we will give them until then," Malaysian Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil was quoted as saying by The Sun Daily, Friday, August 2.

Previously, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was annoyed that his upload regarding the deep sorrow for Ismail Haniyeh's death was deleted on his Instagram and FB accounts.

Fahmi confirmed the removal of the upload with Meta management at the Southeast Asian level. He suspects that the loss of PM Ibrahim's upload was not the work of the Southeast Asian level Meta team.

"There is a possibility that this involves a higher-level decision. The Meta team in the region is also confused about why that happened, so I don't blame them, because this is not an action from their side," said Fahmi.

Haniyeh was killed in an air strike targeting his residence in Tehran, Iran, in the early hours of Wednesday, July 31. The former Palestinian Prime Minister in Tehran's presence was to fulfill the invitation to the inauguration of Iran's new President, Masoud Pezeshkian.

In Iran, Haniyeh also met the supreme leader of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
