Megawati And SBY Invited To The 79th Anniversary Of The Republic Of Indonesia At IKN

Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno said all previous presidents of the Republic of Indonesia would be invited to attend the ceremony of the 79th Indonesian Independence Day in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan (Kaltim), Saturday, August 17, 2024.

"For the former president, we plan to invite him to a ceremony at IKN together with the President," Pratikno said at a press conference related to the month of independence in Jakarta, Thursday, August 1, which was confiscated by Antara.

The invitation will be addressed to the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri and the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono or SBY.

The Minister of State Secretary said that the Palace is also open if things make it difficult for the previous presidents to not be present at IKN.

The Palace has invited the previous president to attend and attend the ceremony at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

"So, while the plan is like that. The former vice president was invited to a ceremony in Jakarta," said the Minister of State Secretary.

Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono added that so far the invitation for the previous president and vice president is still in process.

"Fiscalnya mungkin minggu ini, minggu depan," ujar Heru Budi.

Previously, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno said that the series of months of independence in August 2024 would be opened with the implementation of national remembrance and prayers in the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, and would be attended by Indonesian President Joko Widodo, ulama, and religious leaders and attended by more than 3,000 participants.

After the implementation of the national remembrance and prayer, there were other activities such as in previous years, namely the inauguration ceremony of the Heritage Flag Raising Troops (Paskibraka) by President Joko Widodo, which this time was held at IKN.

Furthermore, he said, the ceremony to award honors at the State Palace in Jakarta, then State Speech and the delivery of RAPBN and Financial Notes at the Nusantara Building, the MPR/DPR/DPD RI Building complex, Jakarta.

According to him, what is special in this year's independence month activities is the holding of an honorary and holy reflection rally in two places, namely at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery led by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma'ruf Amin and at the Kusuma Bangsa Park in IKN led by President Joko Widodo.

The holy ceremony and reflection will be held on August 17 at 00.00 WIB, then the Commemoration Ceremony of the Seconds of the Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia will continue in the morning.
