JAKARTA - The government continues to build equitable telecommunications networks. Currently, almost 97 percent of residential areas have been connected to telecommunications networks.
However, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria revealed that there are still challenges related to the quality of telecommunications networks in several regions.
Nezar believes the challenge can be solved through a program to strengthen signals and increase network capacity. According to him, the implementation of the program will make Indonesia one step further than other countries in the ASEAN region.
So according to Nezar, areas that have a weak frequency or internet signal will have an endorsement program.
"We are heading at a speed of 100 mbps for the internet because now on average Indonesia is at 27 Mbps, we are ranked at ASEAN level number 3 from below," said Nezar in his official broadcast on Friday, January 3.
He stated that improving the quality of connectivity is needed so that the adoption of the latest technology, such as 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT) can be more evenly distributed.
