East Java Police Unload Case Of Illegal Lobster Seed Sale In Banyuwangi

The East Java Police Polairud Team uncovered a case of buying and selling illegal lobster clear seeds in the coastal area of Kemunduran Village, Wongsorejo District, Banyuwangi Regency.

Director of Polairud Polda Jatim Kombes Arman Asmara Syarifuddin said from the disclosure the police arrested two suspects with the initials SC (51), a resident of Sarongan, Pesanggaran District, Banyuwangi, and SR (51), a resident of Jalan Pluit Dalam, Penjaringan Village, Penjaringan District, North Jakarta, who lives in Wongsorejo, Banyuwangi Regency.

"The disclosure began with the Gakkum Sub-Directorate who received information from the public about the sale and purchase of clear lobster seeds on Friday (26/7)," Arman said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 29.

It is strongly suspected that the sale and purchase of lobster seeds in the coastal area of Kemunduran village, Wongsorejo District, Banyuwangi Regency, was without legal documents or permits. Following up on this information, members of Sub-Directorate Gakkum moved to the Situbondo - Banyuwangi highway.

At 24.00 WIB, the police suspected the Pajero Sport car and then followed the car.

"After the examination, four boxes of Styrofoam and 124 plastic bags were found," he said.

The police immediately arrested two suspects, namely SR and SC, then developed into a warehouse belonging to suspect SR in the coastal area of Kemunduran Village, Wongsorejo, Banyuwangi.

From the results of this disclosure, evidence was also confiscated in the form of four boxes of Styrofoam, 124 bags containing clear lobster seeds, one Mitsubishi Pajero car, and three cell phones.

"Until now, the development of who is the buyer is still being carried out, then those who mobilize and collect lobster seeds," he said.

The two perpetrators are subject to Article 92 in conjunction with Article 26 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 45 of 2009 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 2004 concerning Fisheries and or Article 88 in conjunction with Article 16 of Law Number 31 of 2004 concerning Fisheries as amended in Article 27 Number 26 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 6 of 2023 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulations in Lieu of Law Number 2 of 2022.

"The threat of an eight-year sentence and a maximum fine of Rp. 1.5 billion and for a TPPU case, the maximum penalty is 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of Rp. 10 billion," he said.
