JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that the calculation of state losses in corruption cases must be carried out rigidly. Auditors have standards that must be met so as to make suspects in corruption cases related to Article 2 or Article 3 of the Anti-Corruption Law not arrested.
This was conveyed by KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika when asked about the absence of a number of suspects, including the Secretary General of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Indra Iskandar, who was involved in the corruption case in the procurement of equipment for the official residence of council members.
"The auditors calculating the state's losses have their own standards to calculate," Tessa told reporters quoted on Monday, July 29.
Tessa said this state loss would certainly be one of the subjects at the trial that the suspect would deny through his attorney. Thus, the calculation must be more detailed to convince the actions of the perpetrators.
"Therefore, the tendency to calculate the state's losses is quite long, it takes a long time unless perhaps a total loss case. The total loss is easier," he said.
Not only that, auditors from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) and the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) not only resolved cases in the anti-corruption commission. Tessa said other law enforcement officers, such as the police and the Attorney General's Office (AGO) also asked them to do the same.
"So there's a bottle neck there. Queuing (even though, red) we want to hurry up," said the spokesman with the investigator's background.
Furthermore, Tessa said the anti-corruption commission actually has an internal forensic accountant to calculate state losses. However, the number of human resources (HR) is also limited.
"So this is an effort that the KPK is looking for," he said.
Previously reported, the KPK has not detained a number of suspects whose cases are related to state losses. One of them is the alleged corruption in the procurement of equipment for the official residence of the council members who dragged the Secretary General of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Indra Iskandar.
"Why haven't this been detained, are there interventions and others from any party, there is no intervention," said KPK Investigation Director Asep Guntur Rahayu to reporters quoted on Thursday, July 18.

Asep said that the detention was just a matter of time. This is because they still need to calculate state losses in the procurement process because the article on the perpetrators is charged with Article 2 or Article 3 of the Anti-Corruption Law.
"So until now we are still coordinating with those who have calculated state losses," he said.
"(The amount of state losses, ed) is one of the elements of the article that we have to fulfill," continued Asep.
