The Central Java High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) has detained DP, an employee of a state-owned bank in Purbalingga Regency who is suspected of misusing customer's savings to buy crypto.
Head of the Central Java High Prosecutor's Office, Ponco Hartanto, said that state losses due to the DP's actions reached Rp11.2 billion.
According to him, the crime committed by employees of the marketing sector of state-owned banks in Purbalingga occurred from July to September 2023.
He explained that the defendant offered a fictitious deposit program to customers in exchange for cash backs of 1 to 2 percent.
The customer's deposit money, he continued, was withdrawn by the suspect without the knowledge of the owner who was used to buy crypto.

However, he continued, the crypto 'trading' carried out by the suspect was a loss so that the money taken could not be replaced.
For his actions, the suspect was charged with Law Number 31 of 1999 which was amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the eradication of criminal acts of corruption.
The suspect is being held at the Semarang Women's Prison for the next 20 days.
