Matraman Residents Become Victims Of Snatching Men With Piaggio Motorcycles

JAKARTA - A robber riding a white automatic motorbike was caught on CCTV cameras while in action on Jalan Rasamala, Utan Kayu Selatan Village, Matraman District, East Jakarta.

The perpetrator was caught on a CCTV camera passing by and behind him followed by the victim, a woman who kept running while shouting at the perpetrator.

"The thief.. thief.. thief," shouted the victim in the CCTV footage circulating.

According to Heri, an eye witness to the incident, the incident happened so quickly. The perpetrator has been stalking the victim who is walking from behind.

"He (the victim) was walking while calling, suddenly from behind took his cellphone. The victim was on the phone," Heri told reporters at the location, Monday, July 22.

The incident happened to the victim, a female pedestrian. At the time of the incident, the traffic flow situation on Jalan Rasamala seemed to be crowded with residents and other motorists.

"The victim went in the same direction as the perpetrator. The perpetrator came in that direction on the Piaggio motorbike, the perpetrator himself. Had to pull the cellphone but it was successfully taken by the perpetrator," he said.

However, when the perpetrator snatched the victim's cellphone, residents failed to catch the perpetrator who managed to escape at high speed.

"The perpetrator fled and turned right towards the bypass of Jalan Ahmad Yani," he said.

Until this news was written, the mugging incident was still being investigated by the Matraman Police Criminal Investigation Unit. The perpetrator is in police pursuit.
