JAKARTA - Russia launched a series of missiles into Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities in rare day-to-day attacks.
Attacks killed 20 people across the country and hit major children's hospitals, officials said.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Russian troops fired more than 40 missiles targeting various cities and damaging infrastructure, commercial buildings and housing in various cities in Ukraine.
The Kyiv city government said seven people were killed and 25 injured in an attack on the capital. In Kryviy Rih, a city from Zelenskiy, 10 people were killed and 31 others injured, said Mayor Oleksandr Vilkul.
Three other people were killed in Pokrovsk in eastern Ukraine when a missile hit an industrial facility, regional governor Donestk said.
"All services are involved to save as many people as possible," Zelenskiy said via the Telegram messaging app.
"And the whole world must use all its determination to end the Russian attack," he added.
A major attack on Ukraine comes as Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban meets Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss a potential Ukraine peace agreement. Mayor Kyiv Vitali Klitschko said the attack on the capital was one of the toughest since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022.
