Putin Meets Xi Jinping In Astana: Russia-Chian Relations Enter An Golden Age

JAKARTA - Russia-China relations, built on the principles of equality and mutual respect, are experiencing a golden age, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

"We have stated that the comprehensive partnership relationship and Russia-Chingkok strategic cooperation are in the best period in their history. These relations are built based on the principles of equality, mutual benefit, and respect for each other's sovereignty," Putin said at a meeting in Astana, Kazakhstan, reported by TASS, Wednesday, July 3.

Putin recalled how he traveled to China during a state visit in May, particularly to the city of Harbin.

"When we visited Harbin, we all understood once again how close the historical relationship between Russia and the People's Republic of China is," Putin said.

Putin thanked Xi Jinping for his hospitality, mentioning how warm he was to be in China and also given the important negotiations held in Beijing on a mid-May visit.
