Gibran Prepares Sanctions For ASN Online Gambling Players

Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka will apply strict sanctions to state civil servants (ASN) who are involved in online or online gambling.

"We are following up again," he said after attending the Plenary Meeting of the Surakarta City DPRD in Solo, Central Java, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, June 28.

Gibran also asked the public to report if they knew about the case. According to him, there will be strict sanctions given to online gamblers.

"If someone is caught reporting it to me. We will follow up later. Don't let things like that happen," he said.

Previously, the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) encouraged local governments (Pemda) to strengthen the incident response team to prevent local government websites from being infiltrated by online gambling sites.

"We have encouraged the regional government at the Kominfo Service to form an incident response team, for this we also provide technical guidance on how to prevent this website from being safe or its electronic system is safe," said Manggala Informatics Young Expert at the Directorate of Cybersecurity of the Financial, Trade and Tourism Sector of BSSN, Ishak Farid.

He said mitigation and prevention related to online gambling had become the government's focus. Even President Joko Widodo has formed a special task force for handling online gambling, namely the Online Gambling Eradication Task Force (Satgas Judi Online).

The establishment of the Online Judicial Task Force is contained in Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 21 of 2024 concerning the Online Gambling Eradication Task Force which was issued in Jakarta on June 14, 2024.
