2 Defendants Of Pertamina Oil Thieves In Medan Sentenced To 5 Years In Prison

The panel of judges at the Medan District Court (PN), North Sumatra sentenced two accused oil thieves belonging to PT Pertamina Parta Niaga to five years in prison.

The two defendants, namely Bonar Nababan (37), and Benget Silalahi (49), are both residents of Jalan P Halmahera, Medan Belawan District, Medan City.

"Sentenced the two defendants to five years in prison each," said Chief Judge Frans Effendi Manurung, in the Cakra V courtroom, Medan District Court, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, June 27.

The judge believed that the two defendants were found guilty of violating Article 363 paragraph (1) 4 and Article 188 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code as the primary indictment.

The verdict was lower than the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Belawan District Attorney (Kejari), Medan City, demanding both of them with seven years in prison.

At that time, the defendant Bonar Nababan saw a leak in the oil pipe belonging to PT Pertamina Patra Niaga in Environment X, Medan Labuhan District, Medan City.

Then, the defendant invited the defendant Benget Silalahi to take oil using two buckets of used 20 kilograms aimed at selling.

As soon as the location of the leaking pipe arrived, the two defendants saw Ronaldy Simanjuntak (DPO) pulling the wooden cap from the oil pipe belonging to PT Pertamina Patra Niaga which immediately burst out heavily.

The two defendants and Ronaldy Simanjuntak panicked and tried to close them again with wooden caps, but they failed to close the pipe and finally left the location.

For this pipe leak, the fire around the location and at the same time PT Pertamina Patra Niaga suffered a loss of Rp. 165 million.
