Youth Group Brutal Attacks Residents' Houses In Jatinegara Kaum, One Person Stabbed To Death

JAKARTA - F (30) a young man from South Jati Village, died after being beaten by a group of people using sharp weapons, on Jalan Kampung Jati Selatan, RW 08, Jatinegara Kaum, Pulogadung, East Jakarta.

"The victim with the initials F, aged 30 years. He was injured in the head because he was stabbed," said the man with the initials N, an eye witness to VOI at the scene, Thursday, June 20.

N further said that the attack took place when N and his partner were burning sacrificial meat satay on Jalan Kampung Jati Selatan.

"Initially, the residents were here to stop the sacrificial meat. When they stopped, the residents on the other side attacked the residents here. When they were attacked, no one came out here, they were ignored for how long," he said.

Dozens of unidentified youths then entered the settlements of South Jati Village residents while shooting firecrackers.

"Since (many cars) were destroyed and some houses were about to catch fire, so residents came out here. Residents were really attacked, residents here only had bamboo and existing equipment, no one had a knife. But (the group of attackers) brought sharp weapons," he said.

N said there was no initial trigger, but where he lived was actually attacked by an unknown person.

"They are about 30 people who brought all the weapons. They walked, I don't know. There was a house that caught fire because of the firecrackers that were shot into the house," he said.

Meanwhile, the case of the beating that killed one young man was handled by the Pulogadung Police. The Pulogadung Police Criminal Investigation Unit is still working on the perpetrators of the beatings.
