3 Villages In Gunungkidul Drought, BPBD Distribution 64 Clean Water Tanks Per Day

YOGYAKARTA - A total of three urban villages in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), were affected by drought. A total of 64 tanks of clean water have been distributed by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) as of today.

"Based on reports from officers, to date 64 tanks have been carried out," said the Head of BPBD Gunungkidul Purwono in Gunungkidul, Wednesday, June 19, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said the water droppings had been carried out since early June 2024. The three Kalurahan or Kelurahan that were targeted for clean water distribution, namely Tepus and Giripnggung Villages in Tepus District, and Girisuko Village in Panggang District.

In the Tepus area, there are two dukuh, namely Padukuhan Trosari I and Trosari II having difficulty with clean water.

"As a result of field analysis, the Trosari II area does not have a PDAM. The need for clean water during the dry season, people buy water from private tanks," said Purwono.

He said one fleet carried a tank with a capacity of 5,000 liters, so there were 232,000 liters of water distributed for the three villages. This droping of water is based on the request of each village head.

"The drilling was carried out at the request of residents. After a request, BPBD needs to check the location and capacity of the shelter tub before dropping," he said.

Water assistance, he continued, is given to areas that really need it. The criteria refer to areas that do not have water sources or there is no clean waterway yet.

Di Padukuhan Trosari I, Kalurahan Tepus saja masih belum ada PDAM untuk air bersih. Situasi ini menyebabkan warga harus membeli air dari pihak swasta.

"Residents in Trosari I finally bought clean water from the private sector. They have bought it for two months. The price of clean water per one tank is IDR 120,000. To IDR 150,000," said Purwono.

He said the Gunungkidul Regency BPBD in coordination with the DIY BPBD and the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) discussed the dry season to occur until October 2024.

Purwono asked the public not to worry because the district government has provided assistance with 1,000 water tanks or 5,000,000 liters of water. "We urge the public to be good at utilizing water," he said.
