Once Again, The Indonesian Bawaslu Reminds ASN, TNI-Polri, State Officials To Be Neutral In The 2024 Pilkada

JAKARTA - The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of the Republic of Indonesia has asked the state civil servants (ASN), the TNI/Polri and state officials to maintain integrity and professionalism by upholding neutrality based on laws and regulations.

"With no practical politics that leads to partiality, affiliated with political parties," said RI Bawaslu Member Lolly Suhenty, Saturday, June 15.

Then, do not make decisions or actions that are profitable or detrimental either before or after the stipulation of the candidate pair for regional head in the 2024 Pilkada.

In addition to encouraging ASN, TNI, Polri and state officials to conduct socialization and supervision of ranks in their agencies during the 2024 Pilkada process, Bawaslu hopes that state officials will not take actions that are profitable and detrimental, either before the appointment of regional head candidates in the form of using state facilities, position facilities or government programs.

Thursday, May 2, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian ensured that the schedule for the 2024 Pilkada would not be moved forward from November to September.

The main reason is that the current regional election stage has been running and considering the time for holding the 2024 simultaneous elections in February which was very tight. Moreover, the Constitutional Court (MK) is currently still hearing the dispute over the results of the 2024 Legislative Election.

In the end, the schedule for the 2024 Pilkada is in accordance with what has been agreed upon, namely November 27, 2024.

Tito admitted that the discourse on accelerating the 2024 Pilkada to September could not be separated from the government's attention. He also voiced this directly at a meeting at the DPR last year.

However, over time, the discourse finally disappeared in the middle of the road.
