YOGYAKARTA There are new rules in making driving licenses (SIMs). People who want to create or extend the validity period of SIM A, SIM B, and SIM C must have BPJS Kesehatan alias registered as an active National Health Insurance (JKN) participant. This rule will be tested from July 1 to September 30, 2024 in seven regions of Indonesia. So, why do you have to have a BPJS Kesehatan SIM?

Head of Binyan Sub-Directorate for SIM DIT-Regident Korlantas Polri AKBP Faisal Andri Pratomo said this rule was enforced as a follow-up to Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 1 of 2022 which emphasized the active participation of the community in BPJS Kesehatan, quoted from the Public Relations page of the Police.

He added that this rule will be tested in Aceh, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, DKI Jakarta, East Kalimantan, Bali, and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

"There will be a trial implementation from July 1, 2024 to September 30, 2024 in 7 regional police areas. Namely the Aceh Police, West Sumatra Police, South Sumatra Police, Metro Jaya Police, East Kalimantan Police, Bali Police, and East Nusa Tenggara Police," said AKBP Faisal in Kuningan, South Jakarta, Monday, June 3, 2024.

Meanwhile, the Deputy for Coordination for Social Welfare Improvement at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, Nunung Nuryanto, said that the implementation of this rule will certainly not be burdensome and make people troublesome.

"One important note does not mean that by providing an encouragement for active participation in public services, it reduces the service process or what we have previously conveyed is an unprocessary delay," said Nunung.

"This must be underlined. In fact, it is accelerating, making it easier (the community). At the same time ensuring that all participants, the applicant was actually an active participant. Because the principle of JKN is mutual cooperation," he said.

This rule was made to increase the number of JKN participants. To date, there are around 63 million people whose participation is inactive from 270.4 million JKN participants.

In line with the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, BPJS Health's Director of Participation David Bangun is very cloudy with the regulation.

"Hopefully all of this can run smoothly and effectively. So that it can be implemented immediately throughout Indonesia," said David.
