JAKARTA - The police arrested a man with the initials MS (44) who was suspected of stealing a motorbike (Curanmor) on Jalan Batu Tumbuh IV, Koja, North Jakarta (Jakut).

Interestingly, when arrested by residents, the perpetrator contacted his parents by videocall. The moment was recorded by residents, then went viral on social media.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Koja Police, AKP Alex Chandra, confirmed the arrest. The incident occurred on Monday, May 6, at night.

"It's true, one perpetrator was arrested by residents, we went straight to the crime scene and secured the perpetrator," said Alex when confirmed, Tuesday, May 7.

Alex explained that the incident began when the victim named Oki parked his motorbike on the edge of the alley and was locked with a handlebar. Oki then went to hang out with his friends at 17.30 WIB.

Until late at night, Oki wanted to go home and go to his motorbike. However, Oki was surprised to see three suspicious men. Two people were on the motorbike of the perpetrator, while MS was on his motorbike.

"One perpetrator was arrested, while the other two perpetrators managed to escape," he said.

Currently, the perpetrator has been taken to the Koja Police for an in-depth examination of the case.

"Then not long after that, the Koja Police officers came and brought the perpetrator along with the evidence to the Koja Police," he concluded.

Regarding the moment when the perpetrator contacted his parents, one of Wahyu's residents confirmed this. He said the perpetrator contacted his parents if he was arrested by residents.
