Bags Of Two Ammunition Items, Papua New Guinea Citizens Secured By Jayapura Customs

JAKARTA - The Head of Jayapura Customs and Excise secured a Papua New Guinea citizen (WN PNG) named Joyce Sino (40) for being caught carrying two rounds of ammunition at the Skouw State Border Post (PLBN), Muara Tami District, Jayapura City, Papua.

"It is true that Saturday (April 4), Customs and Excise officers at PLBN Skouw secured a woman with PNG nationality because when her luggage was checked through x ray there was a suspicious object and upon inspection it turned out that the two rounds of ammunition stored in the noken," said Jayapura Customs Chief Adeltus Lolok, quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, May 5.

He explained that the PNG citizen concerned along with evidence of the ammunition that was secured was then taken to the Yonif 122/TS Task Force Head Post for initial examination.

"After being recorded, the person concerned was handed over to the Muara Tami Police for further processing," said Adeltus.

When examined, said Adeltus, five identification marks with different identities were also found in the bag.

According to him, Customs and Excise officers on duty at PLBN Skouw will continue to be aware of illegal goods entering through the RI-PNG border.

"With the disclosure of this case, it is hoped that it will increase synergy in serving as well as maintaining border security," said Jayapura Customs Chief Adeltus Lolok.

Meanwhile, Muara Tami Police Chief AKP TB Silitonga separately said that the PNG woman along with evidence of ammunition had been handed over to the Jayapura City Police for further processing.

"The person concerned and evidence in the form of 5.56 mm caliber ammunition have been handed over and detained at the Jayapura City Police," said Silitonga.
