SUKABUMI - Dompet Dhuafa through the Cuma-Cuma Health Service (LKC) officially launched the Madaya Food Garden, a community empowerment program that encourages the use of home land, yards, community gardens, and productive land that has not been optimally utilized as a source of family food as well as a driver of the community's economy.
The launch of the program, which was held at the Pesantren Tahfiz Green Lido (PTGL), Sukabumi, West Java, Friday (24/7/2026) is part of the series of Dompet Dhuafa's 33rd Milad anniversary.
The Madaya Food Garden program integrates various aspects, ranging from strengthening food security, environmental preservation, increasing family income, to agricultural education that is easy for the community to implement.
Already Present in 10 Provinces
Based on data in 2026, the productive green environment program developed by LKC Dompet Dhuafa through the Healthy Community Garden for Sustainable Food Security has spread to 10 provinces, namely Aceh, South Sumatra, Banten, West Java, Central Java, Central Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, South Sulawesi, and Papua.
The program includes 13 community gardens and 247 households, involving 765 beneficiaries and 124 community cadres. All programs also support the provision of local food-based supplementary food.
Empower and Emancipate the Community
The Madaya Food Garden not only focuses on cultivating plants, but also builds an ecosystem of empowering the community through agricultural assistance, institutional strengthening, the development of business based on agricultural products, to opening access to marketing.
Through this approach, the community is expected to be able to increase family income, improve the quality of food consumption, and manage the potential of resources owned independently.

The representative of the Cicurug Sub-district, Dedi Yuda, stated that the Madaya Food Garden program was in line with the government's efforts to increase food security and community welfare.
"Food Gardens are programs that are encouraged by the government to support nutritional fulfillment and economic improvement of the community. We assess that this program is in line with government policies so that it must be fully supported, especially in building a community-based economy," he said.
Dompet Dhuafa Expands the Benefits of Empowerment Programs
Chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Board, Ahmad Juwaini, said the launch of the Madaya Food Garden was part of his agency's commitment to expanding the benefits of community empowerment programs and strengthening national food security.
"On this occasion, Dompet Dhuafa continues to expand the usefulness of empowerment programs while strengthening food security. The Green Lido Tahfiz Boarding School is one of the launch points of the Madaya Food Garden. This program is also rolled out simultaneously in a number of areas involving volunteers and local communities," said Ahmad Juwaini.
He hopes that the program will be able to produce independent and capable farmers through the optimization of land owned by the community.

Beneficiaries Feel the Direct Impact
One of the beneficiaries of the program, Tusih (54), admitted that he felt the real benefits of the existence of the Madaya Food Garden in the Pesantren Tahfiz Green Lido environment.
"Alhamdulillah, this food garden program is very beneficial for us and our families. We not only get the food we need to consume ourselves, but also get additional income from the sale of the harvest," he said.
Through the Madaya Food Garden, Dompet Dhuafa hopes that more people will use the available land as a sustainable food source while strengthening the economic resilience of families. This program is also expected to become a model for empowering people based on agriculture that can be replicated in various regions in Indonesia.
