JAKARTA - The National Police Headquarters has not discussed ethical sanctions for the three members of Metro Jaya Police who were reported in the case of alleged unlawful killing of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) militia.

The Head of Public Information Bureau, Public Relations Division of the National Police, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, said that in this case, the criminal element was a priority for handling.

"Right now, what is being put forward is the matter of the police report, so it is put forward. If we look at the cases it should be put forward," Rusdi told reporters, Monday, March 8.

Rusdi said there was no progress in handling the unlawful killing case report. The team of the Directorate of General Crimes at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police (Bareskrim Polri) is still conducting a series of investigations.

"It's still ongoing, it's still in the investigation stage," he said.

Rusdi also emphasized that in handling this case, the National Police would be transparent. This was based on an order from the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

"But the National Police Chief has emphasized firmly that cases should be resolved in a transparent and accountable manner," he said.

Three members of Metro Jaya Police were reported in the case of unlawful killing. This determination was based on the Police Report (LP) model A after receiving a recommendation from the National Commission on Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia (Komnas HAM).

This report is the second in a series of cases of clashes between members of the police and the six militias of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI).

Where, the police were forced to shoot four members of the FPI militia. But the shooting was allegedly considered an unlawful killing because the police did not make other efforts to avoid the loss of life.
