JAKARTA - The National Awakening Party (PKB) is working on two names of its cadres, namely Wasekjen Syaiful Huda and Chairman of the DPP Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal to be promoted as governor candidates in the 2024 West Java Pilkada. PKB has prepared its internal cadres to fight against the incumbent, Ridwan Kamil. "There is Mr. Syaiful Huda, there is Cucun Syamsurijal. This is still being discussed," said PKB Deputy Chairman Jazilul Fawaid at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Thursday, May 2. Nevertheless, Jazilul said PKB still opens the option to consider other figures. Because according to him, Pilkada is not enough to only take care of the party's own affairs. "Because of this, the regional election does not take care of the household itself, but you see the rivals too," said the Deputy Chairperson of the MPR. Separately, Syaiful Huda admitted that he was ready to be nominated as the West Java cagub and had to fight Ridwan Kamil. PKB, said Huda, agreed to form a new axis outside the RK support coalition. "The West Java PKB ensures that the governor builds his own axis outside Ridwan Kamil," said Saiful Huda at the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, Central Jakarta, Thursday, May 2. Huda revealed that PKB still needs 9 additional seats to carry its own candidates. Currently, he said, PKB has 15 seats in West Java.

"In principle, God willing, there has been an agreement that PKB will carry its own governorial candidate. We will hand over the deputy governor to the coalition party which ensures joining the PKB," he said.
