JAKARTA - In addition to killing one member of the Indonesian Army and injuring a member of the Indonesian Navy, a lightning strike that occurred on Jalan Raya at Hankam Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, also scorched tree leaves near the scene.

However, residents said the lightning strike was quite strange. The reason, according to residents, at that time the intensity of the rain was also not too heavy. Even the lightning strike did not cause tree branches to break.

"It's just strange that I'm confused, usually the splinter tree (rustrated). This is not. The tree just scorched, not splintered," said a resident around the scene, Sadewo, to reporters, Thursday, April 25.

Sadewo said that due to the lightning strike, it was seen that the leaves on the tree branch were also scorched at the time of the incident.

"Yes, the tree is charred," he said.

Sadewo said the lightning strike occurred when the victim was playing with his cellphone and was suspected of calling his colleague.

"So he called his friend, then his friend received the call and was close to being struck," he said.

The sound of lightning strikes that was heard according to residents was very large. When the victim called, then at the same time there was a booming thunder sound.

"The rain was not so big, (the sound was) lightning, durr.. that's it. He was calling, then his friend approached him too. He was struck by direct lightning. One died, the other was not," he said.

Sadewo admitted that this incident only happened once in his area. Previously, even though it was raining heavily, there had never been an incident like this.

"It's never been new this time," he concluded.

As is known, two members of the Indonesian Army and the Indonesian Navy were hit by a lightning strike while guarding TNI Cilangkap Headquarters, East Jakarta, Wednesday, April 23 afternoon. The incident occurred at around 15.20 WIB.

The two victims came from the TNI AD and TNI AL. A member of the Indonesian Army with the initials Prada A, a member of the TNI Academic Mako Work Unit (Satker). Meanwhile, members of the Indonesian Navy have the rank of Kls Defender DS with the position of TA Subdis Jabatmil Satker Disminpersal.

According to data compiled, the incident occurred at around 15:20 WIB, the sound of thunderous lightning sounded.

Then at 15.22 WIB, it was seen that people around came to help the victim, 2 members had fallen. One member of the Indonesian Army with the initials Prada A died after undergoing treatment.
