Russia again warned on Monday that military support from the United States, Britain, and France for Ukraine had pushed the world into the brink of direct clashes between the world's largest nuclear power countries that could end in disaster.

Two days after the United States Parliament approved billions of dollars in additional military aid to Ukraine, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the United States and NATO were obsessed with the idea of causing "strategic defeat" on the part of Russia.

Foreign Minister Lavrov said Western support for Ukraine put the United States and its allies on the verge of direct military clashes with Russia.

"The West is in danger on the verge of direct military clashes between nuclear forces, which are full of disaster consequences," Lavrov said at a non-proliferation conference in Moscow.

"What is of particular concern is the fact that Western nuclear countries' troics' are one of the main sponsors of the criminal regime in Kyiv, which is the main initiator of various provocative measures. We see a serious strategic risk in this regard, leading to an increase in the nuclear hazard level," said Foreign Minister Lavrov.

President Vladimir Putin's decision to launch a special military operation into the Ukriana region by 2022, has sparked the worst damage to relations between Russia and the West since the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, according to Russian and US diplomats.

Since the war broke out, Russia has repeatedly warned of an increasing nuclear risk, a warning that America says should take seriously, although US officials say they are not seeing any changes in Russia's nuclear posture.

Lavrov said, given the current crisis, there is no basis for dialogue with the United States regarding arms control.

"In the context of the completely hybrid war that has been launched against us, there is no basis for dialogue with America regarding arms control and strategic stability in general," he explained.

He accused the West of trying to implement restrictions on Russia and China's nuclear arsenal, while developing non-nuclear capabilities in an effort to achieve unilateral military superiority.

Foreign Minister Lavrov said the West was building a global missile defense system that could behead its opponents, based on its nuclear weapons in Europe, basing medium- and short-range missiles in regions around the world and preparing to deploy weapons in space.

Not only that, Foreign Minister Lavrov also accused the West of launching a propaganda campaign to discredit Russia.

"The West's goal is to distract the international community from the real threat in space, to reach additional financial resource allocations to build their national military space capabilities," he explained.

Our priority remains in the development of legally binding international instruments that provide reliable guarantees to prevent the spread of weapons in space, Foreign Minister Lavrov said.

In February, President Putin said Russia was opposing the deployment of nuclear weapons in space, and its defense minister denied Washington's accusations that Russia was developing nuclear capabilities for space.

As relations deteriorated, Russia and the United States both voice regret over the disintegration of a network of arms control agreements seeking to slow down the Cold War arms race and reduce the risk of nuclear war.

It is known that Russia and the United States have so far been the largest nuclear power countries in the world, which has more than 10,600 of the 12,100 nuclear warheads in the world. China has the third largest nuclear arsenal, followed by France and Britain.
