Bandung City Police (Polresta) arrested six perpetrators of the beatings that went viral on social media against two teenagers on Jalan Raya Ciparay, Bandung Regency, West Java.

Bandung Police Chief Kombes Kusworo Wibowo said the determination of the six suspects was based on the crime scene (TKP) equipped with CCTV footage that occurred on Friday, April 19, 2024.

"Alhamdulillah, the Bandung Police have succeeded in uncovering cases of abuse that occurred in Ciparay in a period of no more than 1x24 hours," said Kusworo as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, April 22.

Kusworo explained that the motive of the perpetrators was because one of the perpetrators was jealous because his girlfriend met one of the victims with the initials DHM (23).

"So the boy meets his girlfriend with another boy at a warteg. Then the girl seems not to know her boyfriend," he said.

Kusworo revealed that the perpetrator, who did not accept the behavior of his girlfriend, finally asked the victim, but when the discussion took place, the perpetrator's colleague immediately beat him.

At the same time, the other perpetrators also beat him with a stone towards the back of the victim's head and fell and suffered serious head injuries.

"For the perpetrator's actions, the victim underwent treatment, where the skull had rock fragments, causing the skull to crack," he said. Kusworo said the beating had gone viral on social media, where the location of the beating took place at one of the minimarkets on Jalan Raya Ciparay.

From this incident, the Bandung Police Satreskrim immediately carried out a series of investigations so that it was found that seven people had now been officially named as suspects in the beating.

"For his actions, perpetrators Z (16), SI (15), RF (16), FY (17), AP (19) and AP (20) were charged with Article 170 paragraph 2 with a penalty of nine years in prison," said Kusworo.
