GORONTALO - Allegations of sexual harassment against lecturers and education personnel within the campus environment of the Gorontalo Nahdlatul Ulama University (UNU), which was carried out by the rector with the initials AH, have now been reported.

Member of the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS) Devika Rahayu Daud in Gorontalo, Saturday, said that so far 12 people have reported the chancellor to the Regional XIV Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) and the Gorontalo Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Management (PWNU).

"The alleged perpetrator is still defending himself and denies all charges, even trying to distort the fact that the victims only had hallucinations," he said, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, April 20.

According to him, if the alleged perpetrator continues to fight back, the victim together with the Gorontalo UNU PPKS Task Force will report it to the Police.

He revealed that currently AH has been deactivated based on the Decree of the Chairman of PWNU, so that since April 16, 2024 he will no longer serve as Chancellor on the campus.

Actually, he said, the number of victims reached 15 people, but only 12 people dared to report the Chancellor's actions.

Previously, the task force reported that the incident had been going on for five days after the alleged perpetrator was sworn in as rector, namely in November 2023.

"Initially, we hoped that this problem would not need to be fussed over with the rector's note of resigning and not repeating his actions, but it turned out that he felt innocent and continued to fight back," he said.

Head of LLDIKTI Region XVI Gorontalo Munawir Sadzali Razak said that his party had received reports related to allegations of physical and verbal sexual violence from the UNU Task Force at the end of March 2024.

"After receiving the report, we are the Coordinator of the Working Group Area (Korwil Pokja) for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in the field of higher education, conducting deepening and assisting victims," said Munawir.

He said that because this case was indicated to involve university leaders, his party immediately took steps to coordinate with the Gorontalo UNU Implementing and Management Agency (BP2UNUGO) to the Gorontalo Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Leaders (PWNU) as organizers.

"We hope that this case can be resolved internally, however, as a party that is always neutral, we also continue to monitor and provide assistance regarding the development of this case," he said.

Currently, LLDIKTI is still submitting this case to the internal authorities of the organizers, but his party cannot prevent if the victim wants to take legal action and that is beyond the authority of his party.

"We don't want to intervene, we only provide assistance and oversee the development of this case," he said again.

Meanwhile, when confirmed, Gorontalo Regional Management Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU) Ibrahim T. Sore said all stages related to this case had been taken, and even his party had appointed a spokesman for this matter.

"We have appointed a spokesperson for this matter, so I can't give any comment regarding this. Sorry," he said when contacted via Whatsapp message.

It was also stated that until this news was broadcast, the ANTARA team was still trying to contact one of the spokespersons appointed by PWNU Gorontalo to provide an official statement regarding the case.
