A Total Of 18 People Died As A Result Of Landslides In Tanah Toraja

MAKASSAR The South Sulawesi Regional Disaster Management Agency released data on the victims of landslides in two disaster areas, namely in Palangka Hamlet, Makale District and Putu Hamlet, Randan Batu Lembang, South Maale District, Tana Toraja Regency a total of 18 people.

"So there are two landslide points, the joint team is currently evacuating the victims at the scene," said South Sulawesi BPBD Chief Executive Amson Padolo as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, April 14.

The landslide natural disaster occurred in two places. The first incident occurred in Putu' Hamlet, RT Bekak, Lembang Randan Batu, South Makale District on Saturday, April 13, at around 23.00 WITA.

Data on victims of landslide material, four people died Indo Luka, Ambe Dian, Karopa and Luaran. Meanwhile, the survivors were two people, namely Fitri Rante and Indo Marni.

The cause of the disaster was triggered by moderate-high intensity rain for several days and unstable soil conditions resulted in landslides hoarding a number of houses and their residents. Losses are estimated at hundreds of millions.

Meanwhile, a similar incident occurred in the second location in Palangka Hamlet, Manggau Village, Makale District on Saturday, April 13 at around 23.30 WITA.

It was recorded that 14 people were declared dead, two survivors were injured, and two victims are still being searched. The death toll was Dala, male aged 40, Bertha Bine, female after 35 years, Putri aged 5 years, Weno, male aged 2 years, Wiris alias Dado, male aged 6 years.

Furthermore, Marcel Oda, male aged 16, Agustinus Tungga, male 20 years, Mala, male aged 60 years, Baru, male aged 40 years, Endi, male aged 15, Matthew Kottong, male aged 35 years, Aco, male aged 37 years, Mase ', male aged 38 years and Jimmy, male aged 27 years.

Confirmed separately, the Head of the Makassar Basarnas Office, Mexianus Bekabel, confirmed the incident. It was recorded that the number of victims affected by the landslide was 24 people, 18 people were declared dead, two were declared missing and the emoat of people was declared safe.

"Currently, the Joint SAR team is still evacuating and searching for victims who are still missing. Basarnas personnel have been deployed at two locations of the incident, including conducting an assessment of the incident," said Maxianus.
