Indonesia Asked To Encourage UN DK To Hold Emergency Session After Israel Attacks Iranian Embassy

JAKARTA - Professor of International Law at the University of Indonesia (UI), Hikmahanto Juwana said Indonesia must intervene in attacks between Israel and Iran can be stopped.

There are at least three steps that can be taken, one of which is asking the UN Security Council to hold an emergency hearing.

"The Indonesian government needs to step in to ensure that attacks can be stopped, including attacks on Gaza by Israel. There are four attempts, first requesting the UN Security Council to conduct an emergency hearing on the Israeli attack on the Iranian Embassy," Hikmahanto told reporters in a written statement, Sunday, April 14.

"If necessary, take the initiative to make a General Assembly Resolution which condemns Israel's actions," he continued.

It is known that Israel first attacked Iran's Embassy in Syria on April 1. Iran then took retaliatory action on Saturday night, April 13 by launching 200 drones to missiles.

In addition, Hikmahanto asked Indonesia to carry out a shuttle diplomacy to the United States of various countries in Europe. The goal is that they do not support Israeli attacks as an example so that other countries respect international law.

Finally, Indonesia could encourage the people and opposition in Israel to deploy Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. "Given the attacks on Gaza and Iran can only be stopped by anyone who serves as prime minister," he stressed.

According to Hikmahanto, these three steps are important. This is because the war in the Middle East can be resolved according to the third world war.

As previously reported, Iran retaliated against an Israeli attack targeting its embassy in Syria. They even threatened to attack back with great force if Israel counterattacked.
