Saudi Arabia And Middle Eastern Countries Officially Announce Eid Al-Fitr Day

JAKARTA - Saudi Arabia and countries in the Middle East, namely Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), have officially confirmed Eid al-Fitr 2024. It is known, on Monday night, countries in the Middle East have asked their citizens to see the crescent moon (hilal) which is a sign of a new moon.

The appearance of the hilal determines the first day of Syawal which marks Eid al-Fitr. However, if the hilal is not visible, then the month of Ramadan will be completed until the 30th day which falls on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

Following the lunar system with 12 months, the Islamic calendar designated Ramadan as the ninth month, culminating in Eid al-Fitr to celebrate the end of Ramadan.

The following is a list of countries that have declared the first day of Syawal:

Saudi Arabia announced that Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, will begin on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 in the kingdom. The announcement from the Saudi Arabian Supreme Court, after monitoring results on Monday evening of the hilal went off.

According to Saudi media, tomorrow April 9, 2024 will be the last day of Ramadan, and Wednesday's emotion will be Syawal's first day marking Eid al-Fitr.

Qatar has also confirmed that tomorrow Tuesday, April 9 will be the last day of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10.

In Abu Dhabi, the UAE announced that Wednesday, April 10, 2024, coinciding with Syawal 1, will be Eid al-Fitr. According to the UAE Month Observation Committee, tomorrow, Tuesday, April 9 will be the last day of Ramadan.

The Minister of Justice and Chairman of the UAE Month Observation Committee, Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi said that his party, after using the sharia method in seeing the hilal and making necessary contacts with neighboring countries, could not see the hilal on Monday night.

So the committee stated, Tuesday, April 9, is the last day of Ramadan 1445 Hijri, and that Wednesday, April 10, is Eid al-Fitr.
