Former Head Of Makassar Customs And Excise Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison, KPK: LHKPN Breakthrough Is An Entrance To Alleged Corruption

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) appreciates the 10-year prison sentence against the former Head of Makassar Customs Andhi Pramono in the gratification case. This decision further strengthens the report that state administrators' assets (LHKPN) can be the entry point for investigating allegations of corruption.

"This also confirms that the KPK's breakthrough through reporting on LHKPN that is not in accordance with its profile can be an entry point in tracing corruption crimes committed by state officials," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters in a written statement, Monday, April 1.

Ali said the team of prosecutors still had seven days to determine the follow-up to the decision. Even so, the anti-corruption commission assessed that the decision had shown the understanding of the Corruption Court's Panel of Judges regarding the importance of asset recovery.

"The KPK appreciates the decision of the panel of judges to decide the case of Defendant Andhi Pramono in accordance with all the evidence submitted by the Prosecutor's Team in proving the indictment," he said.

"The limit on the amount of gratification value is also the same as the contents of the letter of demand, which is an illustration that the panel of judges also has the same understanding and opinion regarding the need for asset recovery from the results of the corruption crimes enjoyed by the perpetrators," Ali continued.

As previously reported, Andhi Pramono has been tried at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN) in a gratification case. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the panel of judges.

In this case, Andhi is said to have received gratuities of up to IDR 58,974,116,189. Acceptance came from a number of parties related to the management of import customs when he was in office.

The details of the receipt are IDR 50,286,275,189.79. Then he received 264,500 US dollars or equivalent to IDR 3,800,871,000 and 409 thousand Singapore dollars or equivalent to IDR 4,886,970,000.
