Five Years of Dating, Renée Zellweger and Ant Anstead Still Not Rush to Get Married

JAKARTA - Five years of dating has not made Renée Zellweger and Ant Anstead rush to the altar. Anstead said their relationship was happy without the pressure to label it.

E! News quoted Wednesday, July 29, reported that Anstead still believes in marriage. However, for now, she and Zellweger feel comfortable with the relationship they are in.

"I still believe in marriage, but right now we're really happy. We don't need the pressure of a label," Anstead said in an interview with The Telegraph published on July 24.

Although he often calls Zellweger the missus, a nickname for a female couple or wife, Anstead insists they are not in a hurry to get married.

The couple, known for being secretive about their personal lives, split their time between Orange County in California and Hertfordshire in England. There, Anstead is building a house for his parents and restoring classic cars.

Anstead described Zellweger as a down-to-earth and humble person. According to him, the Oscar-winning actress did not hesitate to intervene when there was a job to fix the car at home.

Zellweger's love of cars was one of the things that caught Anstead's attention when they first met on the show Celebrity IOU: Joyride in 2021.

According to Anstead, Zellweger is able to use a grinder, weld, and work with various mechanical equipment. He was also impressed when Zellweger immediately drove a car with a manual transmission while filming.

"He really knows his cars," said the former Wheeler Dealers host.

Anstead also recalled the surprise birthday from Zellweger. At that time, he was looking for an old antique gate for his parents' house. He was disappointed because the gate he was looking for was no longer there when he was about to buy it.

Later, Anstead learned that Zellweger secretly contacted her father and arranged for the gate to be taken first as a birthday present.

"As a reward, it was really amazing," he said.

The relationship between the two became known to the public after they met on the set of Celebrity IOU: Joyride. In August 2021, Anstead admitted that they had kept their closeness a secret before the photos of the two of them circulated.

Since then, Anstead has shown his support for Zellweger several times. In November 2024, he praised Zellweger's performance in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy and called her the best person he had ever met.

Anstead also attended the film's premiere in London in January 2025 with her two children, Amelie and Archie. A month later, she again praised Zellweger's totality in playing Bridget Jones.

In April 2026, Anstead celebrated five years of their relationship by posting an old photo with Zellweger. He wrote a caption how it started or "this is how it started".
