11 Rohingya Residents Who Died Floating In Waters Buried In West Aceh And Aceh Jaya

MEULABOH - The Authority of the Non-Immigration Office of the Meulaboh Immigration Checkpoint (TPI), West Aceh Regency noted that as many as 11 ethnic Rohingya were found dead because they were suspected of drowning in the waters west of Aceh.

"The 11 victims have now been buried in two separate locations in Aceh Jaya Regency and West Aceh Regency," said Acting (Plt) Head of the Immigration Office Non Immigration Checkpoint (TPI) Meulaboh, West Aceh Regency, Jamaluddin, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 26.

The 11 victims were previously found in a number of separate locations, namely in the waters of Calang, Aceh Jaya Regency and Lamno waters, Aceh Jaya Regency.

Meanwhile, another victim was found in the waters of Suak Uleue Village, Arongan Lambalek District, West Aceh Regency.

The discovery of the drowning victim was known from Saturday to Monday, March 23-25, 2024.

Jamaluddin said that of all the drowned victims who were found dead, 10 of them were male. While another victim is female.

The funeral procession for the 10 suspected Rohingya residents is in Keutapang Village, Krueng Sabee District, Aceh Jaya Regency.

Meanwhile, another victim was buried in Suak Indrapuri Village, Johan Pahlawan District, Meulaboh, West Aceh Regency.

The funeral procession for all victims was carried out by a number of related parties in each local government in Aceh Jaya Regency and West Aceh Regency.

Currently, the number of Rohingya refugees who were previously found floating in the waters of West Aceh Regency, until Tuesday is still being accommodated at the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Building in West Aceh Regency in the Suak Nie area, Johan Pahlawan District, Meulaboh, local district.
