2,300 Illegal Cigarettes Circulating In East Kalimantan Confiscated, Customs And Excise Give Store Owner Education

Customs and Excise officers are conducting market operations in Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan educating shop owners about illegal cigarettes.

SINTANG - Narga Badau Customs Officer, Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan Province, found at least 2,300 illegal cigarettes without excise stamps in the local area.

"We found the illegal shop without excise stamps during market operations in a number of shops in Sintang Regency and we took action and provided education and socialization," said Head of Customs and Excise Nanga Badau Henry Immanuel Sinuraya, in Putussibau Kapuas Hulu, quoted from ANTARA, Tuesday.

Sinuraya explained that Sintang Regency is one of the areas under the supervision of the Nanga Badau Customs and Excise in Kapuas Hulu Regency, including the circulation of illegal cigarettes.

According to him, the circulation of illegal cigarettes has become a concern in the Operations of the Gempur Market for illegal cigarettes, both in prosecution and routinely socializing to the public and shop owners.

"We urge the public not to buy, offer and sell illegal cigarettes, because in addition to violating the law it also has an impact on state losses, because it does not have excise," said Sinuraya.

Separately, Setiawan, one of the Sintang residents, supports the Customs and Excise of Nanga Badau in carrying out market operations targeting the circulation of illegal cigarettes.

"Currently, many illegal cigarettes are circulating with various brands, some of which even have flavor variants, we hope law enforcement will take action against perpetrators of illegal cigarette dealers," he asked.

Meanwhile, Firman Ilhamsyah, a resident of Putussibau City, Kapuas Hulu Regency, also stated the same thing.

He revealed that illegal cigarette dealers to a number of shops and stalls must be dealt with firmly, because it is quite disturbing for cigarette lovers.

"Not all like the price of cheap cigarettes that are not yet known what the content is, in fact it causes unrest, we hope that there will be firm action, both the source of illegal cigarette production and the perpetrators of illegal cigarette dealers who have spread to villages," said Firman.
