JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi said his party had lowered or taken down 1,971 hoax news on social media regarding the 2024 General Election (Pemilu). The data is the result of filtering conducted by Budi's staff from 17 July 2023 to 18 March 2024. "The distribution of hoaxes reached 3,235 hoaxes where 1,971 hoaxes we took down," Budi said during a press conference at the office of the Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, March 19. He continued, the rest of the other hoax news were not revealed but only given a hoax stamp because it was considered not to contain information that was too dangerous. Budi explained that the hoax was spread evenly across all social media platforms and search sites. The hoax narrative also varies, from provocative to untrue issues. "The title doesn't make sense like Pak Hadi wants to run for president, right, this is a hoax," he explained. From the data received by Budi, 92 percent of the hoax news was spread by social media buzzers affiliated with certain groups. However, after the hoax screening process had been carried out, Budi admitted that the current social media situation was quite conducive and safe. The issues that roam on social media are still considered to be in a reasonable condition and are still being monitored by his side. He ensured that the supervision would continue until the vote recapitulation process by the General Elections Commission (KPU) was completed, even until the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia had been sworn in. The 2024 election includes the presidential and vice presidential elections, members of the DPR RI, members of the DPD RI, members of the provincial DPRD and members of the district/city DPRD, with a final list of voters (DPT) at the national level as many as 204,807,222 voters. For the presidential and vice presidential elections, three couples, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md number 3. Then in the legislative elections, 18 national political parties participated, namely (according to the serial number) of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Gerindra Party, PDI-P, Golkar Party, NasDem Party, Labor Party, and the Indonesian Gelora Party. Next, Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS), Partai Kebangkitan Nusantara (PKN), Partai Hanura, Partai Garuda, Partai Amanat Nasional (PAN), Partai Bulan Bintang (PBB), Partai Demokrat, Partai Solidaritas Indonesia (PSI), Partai Perindo, Partai Persatuan Pembangunan (PPP), and Partai Ummat.

In addition, there are six local political parties as participants, namely the Aceh Nanggroe Party, the Atjeh Beusaboh Tha'at and Taqwa Generation Party, the Aceh Darul Party, the Aceh Aceh Party, the Aceh Prosperous Justice Party, and the Acehnese People's Independent Solidity Party.
