JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy highlighted tourism bus operators who do not comply with the rules during the Eid holiday season.

One form of violation is the bus operator who paints the old fleet that is not suitable for operation, thus creating a new and decent impression, and being forced to operate to serve the community's recreational needs during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

"What I especially urge is that it is usually vulnerabilities not to occur during homecoming, but during tourist days. Namely, the use of buses that are actually not new, but are painted new," he said after being met at the 2024 Eid Transport Ministerial Meeting (RTM) at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture office in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Monday, March 18.

Coordinating Minister Muhadjir said the violation was generally carried out by unofficial bus operators, belonging to certain institutions, or individual property.

As for the official bus operator, he assessed that the fleets operated were fairly safe, because his party was working with relevant stakeholders to carry out a number of inspections in preparing for Eid homecoming transportation.

"It's routine, including efforts to check vehicles, carry out driver health tests, both fit tests (armada), which are already ramp checks, including planes," he said.

Previously, the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said that his party had carried out safety inspections or ramp checks on a number of modes of transportation in welcoming the 2024 Eid homecoming period.

"The Ministry of Transportation has also carried out safety inspections, ramp checks on transportation facilities, land, sea, air, trains, we also continue to increase socialization to the public regarding transportation regulations during the Eid 2024 transportation period," said Minister of Transportation Budi (17/3).

Safety is the main aspect of the Ministry of Transportation's attention, especially the increase in travelers in the Eid 2024 season is projected to increase by 71.7 percent of the total population of Indonesia by 193 million people, so ramp checks are an important effort in providing safety for travelers.
