JAKARTA - Chairman of the Constitutional Court (MK) Suhartoyo emphasized that he would do his best to restore public trust in the judiciary in overseeing the constitution in the country.

"With the supervision of the Constitutional Court's Honorary Council, the Constitutional Court will try to restore public trust," Suhartoyo said in Padang, West Sumatra (West Sumatra), Friday, March 8, was confiscated by Antara.

Suhartoyo said the effort to restore public trust included the establishment of a permanent honorary Constitutional Court (MKMK) to institutional strengthening by involving outsiders to control the Constitutional Court in guarding the constitution.

In front of the academic community of Andalas University, West Sumatra, Suhartoyo also asked students to actively control the judiciary if there was a mistake in carrying out their duties.

"Today, the Constitutional Court may start to be different from yesterday's days when there is a process that leads to a decrease in trust," Suhartoyo said.

He said that from a national perspective, the Constitutional Court is tasked with providing protection of constitutional rights to every citizen.

Therefore, as a biological child, the Constitutional Court reform will continue to strive to restore the institution, especially public trust, which had decreased.

On the one hand, he realizes that restoring public trust is not an easy matter. For example, even if a decision has been carefully drafted through a process and puts justice forward, people may doubt it.

To note, the Constitutional Court was in the public spotlight for granting the decision regarding the age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates under 40 years old, provided that they were experienced as regional heads or state administrators.
