Cianjur Basarnas Waits For Evacuation Tools For 4 Workers To Fall Into Wells Allegedly Containing Hazardous Gas

The joint team of Basarnas Cianjur, West Java, is trying to evacuate four residents who fell into a 20-meter deep well in Panaregan Village, Gasol Village, Cugenang District. Unfortunately, this well is suspected of containing dangerous gas. Cianjur Basarnas Team Commander Andika Zain said the four victims fell while working to repair the water machine located inside the well. Initially only one victim fell and then wanted to be assisted by three others, who actually fell into the well. "The information is that one by one the victims tried to help the first victim who fell, until all of them fell into the 20-meter deep well," he said. Joint officers consisting of Basarnas, PMI Cianjur, Damkar Cianjur, drove to the location to evacuate. After an investigation was carried out, it was discovered that there was gas in the well, so joint officers and volunteers were forced to wait for the breathing apparatus before descending to the bottom of the well. "We are trying to lift all victims quickly. The evacuation process was hampered because without breathing apparatus it made it difficult for officers and volunteers who tried to get off to breathe," he said. Head of PMI Cianjur Headquarters, Fajar Aciana, said that after receiving reports from the Cianjur Basarnas and Fire Department, his party immediately headed to the location with six volunteers complete with equipment and an ambulance.

"We and the joint team are trying our best so that the four residents who fell into the well can be evacuated immediately. Seeing the long time, there is little chance of survivors, but we hope for the best," he said.
