JAKARTA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced Thursday's approval of a new operation against Russia to end the war.
In a post on social media, President Zelensky shared a picture of himself receiving the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Major General Yevhenii Khmara.
"I approve of the 40-day operation by the Security Service to influence the aggressor state in order to pressure for the war to end," President Zelensky wrote on Telegram, as quoted by Reuters (26/6).
In a post on X, President Zelensky said he had received a report from Major General Khmara on medium and long-term action plans, as well as the performance of the SBU's "Alpha" Special Operations Center on the front lines.
President Zelensky wrote, "For several months in a row, the SBU has been showing the highest performance in maintaining Ukraine's position at the forefront with the use of drones."
"The Alpha Special Operations Center is leading in terms of the number of personnel and weapons of the invaders who were successfully disabled," he praised, adding that the internal security of Ukraine was also discussed at the meeting.
It is known that Ukraine has been engaged in a wave of medium- and long-range attacks on targets in Russia or Russian-controlled territories for months, focusing primarily on the oil industry.
