Political observer Ujang Komarudin assessed that the 2024 Special Committee (Pansus) formed by the Regional Representative Council (DPD) of the Republic of Indonesia did not have great strength when compared to the DPR. According to Ujang, the existence of the special committee will not be too binding and will not have a major impact on the political constellation because based on the law, DPD has minimal authority. "Maybe it wants to enliven Indonesia's political narrative, nor do the DPR want to miss it," said Ujang when contacted in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 6, quoted by Antara. In addition, he suspects that the formation of the special committee is only limited to investigating allegations of fraud because there are incumbent DPD members who are predicted to lose in the 2024 General Election. "Yes, it shouldn't be like that, if you want to make a special committee, yes, for bigger interests, so I see, yes, it's up to the DPD," he said. He revealed that the authority to investigate allegations of fraud in the implementation of the 2024 General Election lies with the DPR which can roll out the right of inquiry. Through this right of inquiry, even the President can be summoned by the DPR to Senayan. "The mechanism, yes, just look at it later, what the DPD does, I don't know the work, I saw it, yes, it might be a political toy for the DPD," said Ujang who is also the Executive Director of the Indonesia Political Review (IPR).

Previously, Tuesday, March 5, the DPD agreed to form the Special Committee for the 2024 General Election at the 9th Plenary Session of the DPD RI Session IV Session for the 2023 Session Year — 2024 at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta. The formation of the special committee is a follow-up to the Election Fraud Post Report formed by the DPD RI in each province that finds a number of indications of election fraud. The DPD RI responded to the report by scheduling summoning the KPU, Bawaslu, the National Police Chief, and related parties through Committee I.
